What happens if my transaction fails?

Trails has an automatic refund mechanism built in to protect your assets in the event of a transaction failure.

Failure Scenario

Refund Action

Failure on the Source Chain

If the transaction fails before your funds leave the initial blockchain, you receive a full refund (minus gas fees) on the source chain.

Failure on the Destination Chain

If the funds successfully bridged but the final step fails on the destination chain, the assets are refunded to your sender address on the destination chain.

Funds Stuck in Intent Address

In rare instances, funds can be stuck in the intent address that you deposit funds into on the source or destination chain. If this happens for any reason, you can go to to the transaction history in the Trails Widget or the explorer and connect your wallet that initiated the transaction. Once you connect your wallet that initiated the transaction, find the corresponding transaction, and click 'abort' to sign the recover transaction.

⚠️ Important Note: Be mindful when using wallets where you may not have immediate access to your address on the destination chain (e.g., with an Abstract Global Wallet). If a refund is sent to that address on the destination chain, you must ensure you can access that wallet to retrieve your funds.
